The Mid-Autumn Festival – Mooncake Packaging from A Gentleman’s Perspective

The mid-autumn festival falls on the 4 October this year. It is the 2nd grandest festival in China after the Chinese New Year or Spring Festival.

The mid-autumn festival falls on the 4 October this year. It is the 2nd grandest festival in China after the Chinese New Year or Spring Festival. One of the traditional ways to celebrate the Mid-autumn festival is by indulging in mooncakes.

Working closely with a boutique confectioner in Hong Kong, Hung Hing has given a new twist to mooncake packaging. The overall design of the box drew inspiration from a bow-tied tuxedo gentleman suit. Made entirely of rigid paper board, the magnetic closures opens up to 4 drawers, decorated with ‘button’ pull tab that unlocks the well packaged mooncakes. This limited edition rendition of the mooncake packaging has been very well received and showcases Hung Hing’s creativity in packaging designs and construction.

Have a Happy Mid-Autumn festival….
